Password Protected Directories
What are password-protected directories? What do they mean for your website?
A password-protected directory is a folder that cannot be accessed unless the correct login credentials are provided. This may be a whole Internet site or simply a single page that is located within a subfolder. If you try to open this type of a directory, you will see an Internet browser pop-up where you will have to type in a username as well as a password. In case you type the right ones, you will be able to continue browsing the content with no need to do anything extra. If the login details are not accurate, however, you will see information that you are not authorized to see the content. In case this option is activated, you will not be able to open a file even when you have a direct link. The option is very practical if you'd like to prohibit the access to some content or if you are developing a website and you do not want visitors to be able to access it before it's ready.

Password Protected Directories in Cloud Hosting
Creating a password-protected area will take only several clicks and a few seconds if you host your sites within a
cloud hosting account with our company. You shall not have to do anything difficult - you will have to pick a domain/subdomain, to choose which folder under it should be protected, and then to type the login name and password that will be used to access that folder. If a number of individuals require their own login details, there will not be a problem to create a number of different usernames with access to the same folder. All protected folders shall appear with a padlock icon in the File Manager section, so you shall always know where this option is activated. If you would like to turn off the security feature for any folder, you can deactivate it from the same exact section of the CP where you have enabled it.

Password Protected Directories in Semi-dedicated Hosting
It will require a couple of mouse clicks to activate the password protection feature for any folder that you have, if you use one of our
semi-dedicated hosting packages. We have an exceptionally helpful tool, that offers a user-friendly point-and-click interface and which can be used by individuals without any experience. It's included in the Hepsia CP, which you'll get to manage your new account and once you log in and check out the Password Protection section, you will be able to choose the domain or subdomain that should be secured and then the exact folder - either the main folder or any subfolder under it. You shall also see 2 boxes where you will need to type the login name and the password which will be required to access the folder in question and you'll be good to go. By following exactly the same steps, you can create a variety of login credentials for the exact same folder to give several people their own username/password. All protected folders will have a small padlock sign in the File Manager section.
