SSH Telnet
What precisely is SSH? How can you handle a server over SSH?
Secure Shell, better known as SSH, is a cryptographic network protocol used to execute commands on a remote web server or to exchange data between a server and a client. Since the information exchanged by the 2 sides is encrypted, a 3rd party simply cannot intercept it, which makes SSH a favorite means of controlling a web hosting account. The commands which may be executed are determined by the type of hosting service. On a shared server, for instance, the choices are limited since you'll not have root access to the web server, so you may only create/move/delete files, set up and unpack archives, export and import databases, and so forth. They're all actions that are performed inside the shared hosting account and do not need a higher level of access. With a virtual or a dedicated server, you shall be able to install server-side software or to restart the hosting server or only a particular service (web server, database server, etc.). SSH commands are submitted via a command line, and if you do not use a UNIX-like OS, there are plenty of applications for other OSs, that you can employ to connect to the remote server as well.

SSH access is featured with all
Linux cloud hosting that we provide. With some of them, it is featured as standard, while with others it is an optional upgrade which you can include with a few mouse clicks in your website hosting CP. You can get SSH access from the section dedicated to it where you can also find the information you need to connect - the host, the port number and the username. You will be able to pick the password that you'll use and, if necessary, you will be able to modify it with a couple of clicks from the same spot. All of the commands that can be used with our shared packages are listed within a help article alongside relevant examples. If the SSH access function is permitted for your account, you'll also be able to upload files through your favorite FTP client via an SFTP connection.

SSH Telnet in VPS Hosting
All our
virtual private server packages provide SSH access by default, so you won't need to include any upgrades or enable anything - the moment the server is set up and you receive its login information, you will be able to connect using its primary IP address and the login credentials that you have selected during the signup process. As the VPS accounts come with full root-level access, there are no restrictions with regards to the commands which you could run. Your server will be isolated from the other ones on the physical machine, so you'll be able to manage more or less everything using a command line, including server-side software installations and reboots. Thus, you may work with your files, databases and any applications you install in a fast and risk-free way.
